Iris van Meijl
Hi! Thank you for visiting my website and want to know more about me! My name is Iris van Meijl, an enthusiastic professional photographer of 24 years old from Someren-Eind, The Netherlands.
My greatest passion is of course the equestrian sport. I've been active in equestrian sports for about 13 years, I've practiced show jumping and dressage contests. Now I am preparing my new horse Divino (United x Farrington) for dressage contests.
"In my photography I combine my knowledge about creating images with my passion for horses."
My love for 'looking' did not start with photography but with painting and drawing. Ever since I was a kid, I've always been into in drawing people and horses. Drawing is nothing more than learning to look well and then being able to copy it through your hands. I took this with me to my photography. Photography is looking, paying attention to the details and creating a perfect image. In college, teacher of visual arts and design, I took photography and photoshop lessons. During these lessons I learned a lot, especially about creating an image that looks at framing, positioning, colour, contrast, cropping and so on.
"It starts by looking, paying attention to details, having in mind what an image needs in order to be able to make it".
As a graduate teacher of visual arts and design, I am qualified to give workshops. Because of my education I don't only like to take pictures myself, but also to be able to teach other. That's why I also give workshops in horse photography. Both in private and in groups.
